The National Security Agency (NSA) offers internships, scholarships, a co-op program, and other programs for students of all academic levels. The Computer Science Intern Program (CSIP) is a summer program for students currently enrolled in a graduate program, ideally in computer science, with a preference given to those who have completed courses in data structure, discrete mathematics or structures, and calculus I and II. Students will be assigned to projects culminating in a short presentation and technical paper. Projects may be in the area of (but are not limited to): big data; computer and network security; machine learning/AI; etc. The CSIP is a 12-week paid work assignment that runs from mid-May or June. Students are paid a salary commensurate with their education level. Annual leave, sick leave, and paid federal holidays are included, as is participation in an agency-wide extracurricular program. Students who attend schools in excess of 75 miles from Ft. Meade, Maryland, are eligible for a round trip airfare ticket to and from school or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket. Subsidized housing accommodations are available upon request if school is located in excess of 75 miles from NSA main HQs campus.
