The photocrowd platform offers an online competition in the field of low-profile photos. Low-key master images are dark and moody, usually underlit, and with a strong contrast between the overall dark color of the scene, and a few areas of the lit subject. This can be accomplished most easily in a controlled environment such as a studio, where a black background can be created, and the light source set up orthogonally.
